Australian pilchards (are Australian sardines), they have a strong fishy (distinctive sardine taste). Sardines and Pilchards are eaten world-wide and are popular in many multicultural cuisines such as Italian, French and Asian.
EATING: Enjoyed in simple bread crumbs, to pan-fried, or in saucy dishes, smoked, dried, steamed…they are event eaten from breakfast served on toast. Usually eaten whole (with the head removed for some dishes).
